Al Caucci has spent at least a month a year in
Montana
, as well as other
Rocky Mountain states
, for the past 35 years. That’s
35 consecutive years of exploring, researching, fishing and hosting
trips on all the famous
Montana
rivers. Through his
travels and business, he obtained intimate knowledge of all the
famous rivers; Henry’s Fork, Madison, Firehole, Yellowstone,
Gardner, Boulder, Gallitan, Big Horn, Green, South Fork of the
Snake, Teton, Big Hole, Beaverhead, Ruby, Jefferson, Clark Fork,
Bitterroot, Rock Creek, Locksa, Black Foot, Dearborn, Smith, the big
Missouri and many smaller streams and spring creeks too numerous to
name!
Al has taught schools and hosted trips on most
of these rivers since 1985, and in the seventies he explored and
researched the hatches, trout and habitats of these famous streams.
During the past 10 years or so, Al has decided to fish and
host trips on only the “best of the best”!
His evaluation is simple; “to select only those rivers that
produce big wild trout that sip bugs on the prolific hatches.
He feels that “sight fishing” and hooking big trout (or
lots of good size trout) on dry
flies with a fine tippet is the “ultimate in trout fishing”.
To accomplish this, he has selected the best
dry fly rivers in the world for the Al Caucci Flyfishing Trips; the
best rivers with the biggest wild trout populations, during the peak
time of the year, and the very best guides!
Guides that continue to fish you during the hours of peak
insect activity and rising trout.
This is no easy task as over 95% of the guides in Montana
today will pick you up at 8:00 or 9:00 AM and drop you off at 5:00
or 6:00 PM (before the peak action even starts).
Al is willing to compensate his guides for this and selects
them for their enthusiasm and ability!
It does not make sense to leave a river at
6:00 PM
– when usually the best action of the day is from
7:00-10:00 PM
! Al has been dealing
with most of the outfitters and guides for decades and many are
friends.
Our
Montana
trout fishing day generally starts at 9:00 AM and end at
10:00 PM
with a break during the dead part of the afternoon.
The best rivers, best hatches, best guides – all focused on
the proper window of opportunity – that’s what Al Caucci
Flyfishing trips are all about!
